Howard A. Fischer was quoted in a December 9, 2022 article discussing how inquiring into issues of corporate governance is a new tack for the SEC and reflects a trend in that direction under SEC chair Gary Gensler.

“The SEC appears to be concerned about corporate boards being too insular and not being open to outside viewpoints and perhaps curtailing overmuch the input of independent directors,” he said. “These letters should be seen within the larger context of what SEC Chairman [Gensler] is trying to accomplish at the SEC by increasing transparency into corporate decision-making and by ensuring a greater array of voices are heard.”
