Howard A. Fischer was quoted in The Financial Times Sustainable Views "Regulatory round-up." He was commenting on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s much-anticipated proposal to impose climate change disclosures on listed companies. Mr. Fischer said that “by requiring a disclosing entity to provide information on its own direct and indirect climate effects, as well as those in its supply chain [when applicable], the SEC is in effect making climate change and sustainability a key subject companies must consider in conducting operations.” He adds that, “while the rules are couched in terms of disclosure, and not prescriptive requirements, the intent is ultimately to force filers to minimise emissions by making them an issue for investors to consider.”
