November 16, 2010
Managing partners from independent law and accounting firms from across the U.S. and Canada gathered on November 12, 2010 for a half-day forum hosted by New York City-based law firm Moses & Singer. The 2010 North American Managing Partners Forum focused on issues facing mid-size legal and accounting firms, and included sessions led by Richard Puzo and Domenick Esposito from J.H. Cohn, Philip Whitman of Whitman Business Advisors and Mark Santiago of KermaPartners on planning and strategy, alternative fee arrangements and mergers and acquisitions for accounting firms. The event also provided valuable networking opportunities for attendees.
Spearheading the event were Alan Kolod of Moses & Singer and Ronald L. Loberfeld of Abrams Little-Gill Loberfeld, an accounting firm in Chestnut Hill, MA. “Clients are demanding more from their lawyers and accountants,” remarked Alan. “One of the main reasons Ron and I decided to do the Forum was to enable colleagues to share best practices and also obtain insight from expert consultants.”
Forum attendees are members of MSI Global Alliance, an international alliance of over 250 independent legal and accounting firms from over 100 countries. “The Forum gave us a chance to become more familiar with our affiliates in North America,” commented Ron. “Gaining a better understanding of each other’s expertise and how we can work together to help our clients distinguishes us from larger, more costly professional service providers.”
Based on the success of the Forum, plans are already in the works for future events.
