Devika Kewalramani, will be a speaker on “Tips on Avoiding Ethical Riptides in Your IP Practice” at the 45th Annual IP Institute: Shifting Tides – Intellectual Property in a Changing World, organized by the California Lawyers Association, Intellectual Property Law Section. The program is November 9, 2021. Devika's session is between Noon – 1 p.m. PST/3 – 4 p.m. EST.

Devika Kewalramani and other speakers will discuss common ethical issues confronting attorneys in their intellectual property practices. They will share their insights on ethical dilemmas facing outside counsel and in-house lawyers, and discuss tips on avoiding missteps that often land practitioners in hot water with their clients and the bar. Among other topics, the speakers will discuss best practices for retainer/engagement and termination letters, disqualification of counsel, conflicts of interest and advance waivers, investing in the client’s business, handling multiple client representation and joint defense/common interest agreements, as well as alternative legal financing and third-party litigation finance.
