Steve Lueker is a partner with over 25 years of experience solving problems in the areas of technology, finance, taxation and general business.  His clients include venture capital companies, investment funds, technology companies, insurance companies, banks, fintech startups, cannabis companies, entrepreneurs and real estate investors. Mr. Lueker helps guide his clients from the ground up, whether forming and structuring the best entity, hiring key executives, entering into bespoke business agreements or software licenses, raising capital, litigating disputes or executing acquisition or exit strategies (e.g., mergers and acquisitions). A considerable portion of his practice involves structuring cross-border transactions.  Given the breadth of his experience, Mr. Lueker often serves as outside general counsel for companies.

In addition to working in private practice, Mr. Lueker has also worked as in-house counsel, a CFO, and an investment and corporate banker at a large European investment bank.  During his banking career, he formed and supervised three departments (a special situations group, a derivatives sales desk, and an insurance lending group), all of which involved structuring bespoke financing transactions. His responsibilities in running these departments allowed him to hone his business skills and simultaneously strengthen his legal skills. His banking experience also included hedging risk (credit, interest rate, and currency risk) and analyzing risk-weighted assets and regulatory capital – the awareness of these issues serves him well in his work with financial institutions. Mr. Lueker has found that in providing legal advice many clients appreciate his business experience and awareness of non-legal issues.
