George McCormick is a partner and Co-Chair of Moses & Singer's Trusts and Estates and Asset Protection practice groups. He provides U.S. federal tax, estate and trust planning advice to high net worth individuals and their families, entrepreneurs and business owners, family offices, and trust companies.

George advises clients with general estate planning and more advanced gift and estate planning, including counseling fund principals with gifting fund interests, creating grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), intentionally defective grantor trusts (IDGTs), charitable trusts, and advising on the use of life insurance strategies and structures.

George advises many clients who have an international connection, whether they are non-U.S. persons or Americans residing overseas. He developed this expertise earlier in his career by practicing in Hong Kong for over five years. As evidence of his experience with working with international families, George is a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Often these clients are non-U.S. persons who want assistance with trust and succession planning for their American family members, and George helps them with their trust and estate planning. This often involves creating foreign grantor trusts and administering foreign nongrantor trusts. He also advises non-U.S. clients with structuring tax efficient investments in U.S. real estate, funds and other U.S. situs investments, as well as tax planning for immigration to the United States.

George assists Americans who reside abroad or who invest overseas with issues such as tax, estate and expatriation planning, bearing in mind the non-U.S. legal and tax issues that may be relevant to them.

George counsels his clients with tax compliance issues that may arise, which can involve representing clients in front of the IRS and advising clients who may need to make disclosures to the IRS.

Prior to entering private practice, George worked for the Florida Department of Revenue administering taxpayer audit appeals, providing taxpayers with guidance concerning state tax laws, and advising state legislators and executives on federal and state tax law and legislation. Before that, George was Legislative Counsel to U.S. Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D., of Texas where he drafted U.S. federal income and estate tax legislation and advised the congressman on topics such as tax and economic policy, foreign affairs, and transportation.
