In-house counsel have reported in surveys that live staff training is by far the most effective way to reduce harassment complaints. Now, New York employers are being required by law to provide such prevention training.
Beginning April 1, 2019, all employers with 15 or more employees in New York City must provide annual interactive sexual harassment prevention training to those employees. By October 9, 2019, all employers, regardless of size, must provide annual interactive sexual harassment prevention training to all employees located in New York State. Both New York City and New York State laws detail specific content that must be addressed in the training. Violation of these laws may result in fines and other penalties.
Moses & Singer employment law attorneys provide live, in-person training to prevent unlawful harassment and discrimination. This training, and our written materials, will enable you to comply with both the City and State law training requirements. Our goal is to help your business avoid harassment and discrimination complaints. Our training can be tailored to your specific business.
