    Samuel J. Servello is an associate in the Healthcare practice. Mr. Servello's practice focuses on healthcare law and taxation of non-profit entities. He represents pharmaceutical companies and insurers on transactional, regulatory, compliance and privacy matters, as well as fraud and abuse issues. Mr. Servello counsels scientific research consortia regarding a variety of transactional matters, clinical trials and issues relating to tax-exemption. In addition, Mr. Servello has extensive experience assisting tax-exempt organizations, obtaining recognition of tax-exempt status, advising on unrelated business taxable income issues, and maintaining tax-exempt status. He also monitors the actions of tax-exempt entities and their directors, employees and agents and advises on the application of the intermediate sanction and excess benefit rules.

    Mr. Servello is presently the Chair of the Health Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, as well as an active member on a joint taskforce with the Public Health Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association regarding the cost drivers of healthcare in the State of New York. Through his efforts with the Health Law Committee of the City Bar Association, Mr. Servello is also assisting in the review of new legislation to increase anatomical gifts in New York.

    As a volunteer at Beth Israel Medical Center, Mr. Servello serves as a member Beth Israel's On-Call Disaster Team in case of a large-scale disaster.
