Cathy J. Frankel is of counsel to the firm's IP Group. Cathy has a broad-based practice, with an emphasis on the television, motion picture, home video and internet production and distribution, print and electronic publishing, music, merchandising, computer, software and internet industries, and the licensing of intellectual property and other rights for use in all forms of media and merchandising. In addition to corporate clients, she counsels writers, producers and other talent in the music, television, motion picture, internet and publishing industries, as well as the performing and fine arts. In addition to other celebrity clients, she represents celebrity chefs and restaurateurs in a wide range of their business and professional endeavors, including their restaurant businesses, television appearances, book publishing and merchandising. Cathy regularly counsels clients on a broad range of legal issues affecting their businesses and rights, including copyright, trademark, right of publicity, right of privacy and executive employment matters.

In addition to her work in the entertainment, licensing, technology, restaurant, arts and media related industries, Cathy also represents non-profit organizations in the medical research, health and human services fields, including an international research consortium formed by a non-profit entity that has brought together more than a dozen major academic research institutions to collaborate in finding a cure for an orphan disease, a scientific research organization that is researching new ways to cure a group of related diseases, and a major provider of health and human services in the New York area.

Cathy has lectured on subjects involving intellectual property and the entertainment and advertising industries, including lectures under the auspices of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Copyright Society of the USA, CLE International, The Entertainment and Sports Conference of the Foundation for Accounting Education, American Corporate Counsel Association, the Advertising Association of America, the Columbia Film School, the Advertising Agency Financial Management Group and the Myriad Restaurant Group.
