Roy P. Kozupsky is a partner in the New York City offices of Moses & Singer, LLP.

Since being admitted to practice in 1985, Mr. Kozupsky has worked exclusively in the field of private client services and as a trusts & estate practitioner. His work encompasses legacy planning for large American families, their family businesses and their philanthropic organizations.  These areas of work include:

1. Intergenerational wealth transfer planning for families, family philanthropic organizations and business owners,

2. Organizational and governance planning for families and family offices,

3. Philanthropic planning with family private foundations, and

4. estate, trust and fiduciary accounting litigation.

Over the past decade my practice has gravitated to more multi-disciplinary work and closely focused upon the field of family legacy planning for family enterprises – i.e., those families whose wealth is closely tied to and aligned with their family businesses and philanthropic initiatives.  My clients in this work come from all over the country.  These are legacy families who seek to perpetuate their business enterprise(s), their philanthropic initiatives and missions and most importantly their family values into future generations. This area of my practice includes extensive collaboration with non-lawyer professionals who specialize in family business and charitable planning, and is tailored to comprehensive long-range plans.

I am reminded that these families are reaching out to me, not only for my broad multi-disciplinary experience in working with legacy families, but also because of my understanding that their most cherished asset is their family.

My goal is to provide these legacy families and their business with contemporary legal planning encompassing strategic organization/corporate planning, wealth transfer planning, charitable planning and tax planning-all in an effort to assist these families in thinking forward into the next generations of their family.

I am a member of (i) Family Firm Institute (“FFI”) and have received from FFI my Certifications in Wealth Advising (CWA) and Advanced Certification in Family Wealth Advising (ACWA), and (ii) a former member of Attorneys for Family Held Enterprises (“AFHE”), where I previously served as Board member and Treasurer. I have trained at 21/64 in philanthropic advisory work.  Finally, I also currently teach at Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management in the Financial Management for the Family Office Certificate program. My teaching at Pepperdine has provided me with a unique collaborative environment to educate other family members and professional advisors about family legacy planning.
