John V. Baranello is an associate in the firm’s Litigation practice group. John focuses on protecting the assets and interests of both his institutional and individual clients, some of whom include medical sales representatives, large food distributorships and real estate agencies.

His practice is dedicated to complex commercial, employee and employer rights and wage and hour, construction and consumer-based litigation. His clients span a variety of industries, including entertainment, medical, sports, home goods, linen services, fashion, construction and equipment leasing. John's practice also involves the laws governing non-competition agreements and other restrictive covenants. He assists clients involved in white collar criminal cases, in addition to matters relating to matrimonial, child custody and relocation disputes. John litigates on clients' behalf in both New York and New Jersey state and federal courts.

Recently, John has advised clients on updated employment policies and drafted employee handbooks based on employers’ industry and needs. He’s advised one of the most successful medical sales representatives in the northeast on various employment issues. John has also represented numerous restaurants in wage and hour lawsuits, arguing various motions before federal judges.

John has recently successfully dismissed a putative federal class action against an equipment lease financing company prior to answering the complaint, negotiated a very favorable settlement with an insurance company for Sandy related damages, and has assisted other lawyers with guidance on various proceedings including article 78 proceedings and land disputes.

Prior to starting at the firm, where he was a summer associate, John also worked at Deutsche Bank AG in their Litigation and Regulatory Group and was assistant to the Chief Deputy Clerk of the Richmond County Supreme Court.

Outside the office, John currently plays to a 2.2USGA handicap on the golf course, and has bowled many 300 games in bowling leagues, tournaments and recreationally on Staten Island.

With less than 2.5 percent of attorneys in New York under 40-years-old named Super Lawyers Rising Stars, Super Lawyers has recognized John as a Rising Star in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 as an attorney 40 or younger who has attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
