Ross J. Charap is a partner in Moses & Singer’s Copyright and Entertainment practice. His practice includes the representation of composers and publishers of music, recording companies, theatrical producers, internet companies, software developers, writers and visual artists on varied intellectual property issues. Mr. Charap represented the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) for 25 years as in-house counsel. On behalf of ASCAP, he litigated thousands of copyright infringement actions and handled many arbitrations. Mr. Charap provides the same enforcement services to the Harry Fox Agency, the licensing arm of the National Music Publishers’ Association and handles anti-piracy efforts for the Association itself.
Mr. Charap has also negotiated and drafted many important copyright licensing agreements with satellite and cable television networks, broadcasters, international corporations, professional sports teams, the Atlanta Olympic Organizing Committee and concert promoters. He also focuses his practice on terminations, working with creators and their heirs to recapture copyrighted works. He also lectured throughout the United States and overseas on copyright and entertainment law.
