The January 13, 2014 edition of the New York Law Journal featured an article co-authored by Devika Kewalramani and Christina M. Gaudio that highlights the complexities and nexus between Rules 4.2 and 4.3 of the New York Rules of Professional Conduct. The article deals with attorney communications with non-clients, i.e. persons who are represented or unrepresented by counsel.  Using real-life scenarios, the article illustrates the significant impact these rules have on the nature of interaction of attorneys with non- clients in every day practice, especially when their status as "represented" or "unrepresented" becomes unclear or changes unexpectedly during the course of representation.
